GREYMOUTH EXPLOSION

DRAY IN SHED DAMAGED [BY TELEGRAPH —PRESS ASSOCIATION] GREYMOUTH, Saturday Further investigations this morning into the explosion in the town about nine o'clock last evening showed that iti took place in the borough council's open shed which is used for storing drays and is about 100 yards from the police station. An explosive is believed to have been placed in a dray, the bottom of which was blown out, r lho shed was not damaged, and a horse in the shed escaped injury. The general opinion is that the explosion was intended as a joke, perhaps to influence the police. After the explosion last evening some smoke was noticed by a passer-by at the rear of the police station. The explosion was heard many blocks away. The night was exceptionally dark, with steady rain.
