CLAY-BIRD SHOOTING
{AUCKLAND CLUB'S MATCHES Owing to the adverse weather conditions on Saturday afternoon, there was only a fair attendance of shooters at the Auckland .Gun Club's grounds at Pakuranga. when a series of matches was shot off. The stronz idriving wind and heavy rain made shooting extremely difficult. The first seven fcirds' match was won' outright by R. H. JBartley (16yds), with six birdß. The chief match of 15 birds for a trophv presented by Mr. R. H. Bartley, was Won hy Li. Peterson (18yds), with 14 birds. E. J. Schofield (lGyds), and J- H. Gribble (14yd8>, being runners-up with 13 each. A 10-birds' match, gun below elbow, was won outright by E. J. Schofield (16yds). with nine birds, C. E. Hodge (20ydo). beinc second with eight. A special challenge match of fiva birds between E. J. Schofield and C. E. Hodco. both off 21 yards, was won by Schofield by B to 4.
