HERALD'S SPECIAL FORECAST CLOUDY AND UNSETTLED The following weather forecast for-24 hours from 7 a.m. to-day was supplied by Mr. H. M. Vincent last evening:—The new depression is moving on to the northern Tasman Sea, while a moderate high barometric pressure system is located over the South Island. Cloudy and unsettled weather is indicated over most of the .Auckland Province, with a scattered rainfall, particularly in north .Auckland* Mainly fair to fine in southern districts.Northerly to north-easterly winds, moderate to strong, prevailing and freshening. Seas becoming rough and increasing on the east coast of the' North Island; smooth to moderate seas 'on the west coast. Local outlook: Cloudy arid unsettled, with intermittent rain. Mild temperatures. GOVERNMENT REPORT The Government meteorologist reported last evening as follows: A slight anticyclone is passing to the north of New Zealand, while a fresh depression has reached eastern Australia. Barometers are abnormally low over the Tasman Sea and the New Zealand area as a whole. Indications are for light to moderate winds, variable at first with southerlies prevailing, but tending northerly tomorrow. Seas smooth to moderate. In the eastern Tasman Sea, light- to moderate winds, variable at first, but tending northerly and freshening, A few scattered showers are still likely, principally in eastern districts of the South Island, but otherwise the weather should be fair with an improvement everywhere to-morrow, except in the west and south of the South Island.
