NOTED VIOLINIST
FIRST 00NCERT TO-NIGHT This evening in the Town Hall, under tho direction of Hugo Larson and Company, .Josef Szigeti, tho famous Hungarian violinist, will give his first Auckland concert, for which music lovers have been so eagerly waiting. Tho success achieved by Szigeti in Wellington, Duncdiu and Christchurch -has been mentioned in tho press as unparalfeled in the musical hislory of the Dominion. The programme will include Bach's Sonata in f» Minor, for violin only, which is a work of grandeur. There will also be tho Conceito in D Major with Joachim's cadenzas, which is acknowledged to bo the most beautiful of Mor,art's essays in this form. The Jewish OOTiiposer Ernest Blocli will be represented by his "Nigun," from Baal Shem, a .symphony, "Israel," on Hebrew themes. Other special numbers will" be "La Follia," one of a set of twelve sonatas by Corelli, Pngannini's Andante and Caprice in\E. The piano accompaniment was composed by Ignace Friedman, who visited Auckland, and dedicated to Szigeti. In addition to the Rimsky Korsakoff-Hnrtman "Flight of the Bumble Bee" and the do FallaKreisler Spanish Dance, there will be presented 6ther specially selected numbers. The assisting artist will be Prince Nikita Magaloffj the brilliant Russian pianist. Concerts will also be. given to-morrow evening and on Monday evening.
