HERALD'S SPECIAL FORECAST OVERCAST, WITH RAIN The following weather forecast for 48. hours from 7 a.m. to-day was supplied by Mr. H. M. Vincent Inst evening:—Tho high barometric pressure system is moving off tho Dominion, and a depression of tropical character is approaching New land from the west. A sudden change to unsettled, boisterous weather is expected, followed by an almost general rainfall, heavy in northern and east const districts, and in the Waikato. Northerly to northeasterly winds, moderate Ao strong, prevailing and increasing, and reaching gale force in the north. Seas becoming rough and increasing, particularly northward from East Cape and southward from Cape Egmont. Local outlook: Overcast, with heavy rain following. Warm and humid conditions. GOVERNMENT REPORT The Government meteorologist reported last evening as follows:—The anti-cyclono mentioned yesterday has intensified, out is moving off to the eastward. A moderate cyclone was still centred east of tho south coast of Now South Wales. Indications arc for east to north winds, light to moderate, but freshening. Seas smooth to moderate, but increasing somewhat. Eastern Tasman Sea: Moderate to strong and increasing northerly winds; seas becoming rough. Weather mainly fair to fine at first, but unsettled conditions setting in to-morrow in northern and western districts and rain developing.
