SNOOKER TOURNEYS
CHALLENGE BOWL RETAINED A challenge match for tho Arthur Rose Bowl was played in the Olympic Sports ROOlll3 last evening between teams representing the Princo Arthur and Occidental Hotels. Tho former, which' held the trophy, retained it by 978 points to 804. Prince Arthur established its lead 'in the first .round, but just held its own in the next two rounds. ,A challenge has been issued by the Criterion Hotel team. CHAMPION TOURNAMENT The chariipion snooker tourney was continued at tho Central Billiards Saloon last overling. A large attendance witnessed a fino contest between M. Ellis nnd 11. Guy. Ellis proved superior and defeated his opponent in two straight games, tho scores being:— Ellis, 78 nnd C>B; Guy,'s2 and 29. Tho tournament will be continued tonight. when C. Bloomficld will meet T. McCi arvio, and T. Yates will play E. Burleigh. TEAMS TOURNAMENT Tho first semi-final of the league's snooker tournament, was played last night at Mr. •T. Phillips' rooms, when L. Adams' team knocked out S. Davis' team. Tho aggregate scores were; —Adams, COS: Davis, 458. Cornthwaite find Sommerville were very evenly matched, Sommerville winning two games out of three. R. Devereux and J. Ban ham gave a great exhibition of pottin.fr. Bashnm winning by the black in each game. Tho local champion, R. Davies, gavo a brilliant exhibition of potting, registering 232 points against, E. Smith's 03. L. Adams and S. Davis also gave a good display, Adams narrowly winning each game. Tho tournament will be continued to-mor-row night, when E. V. Roberts' team will play J. Black's team.
