PEAR GIRLS AND BOYS: The most interesting task I have bad for som©' time past, has been the reading cf *ll the i' Spring in my Garden " essays, sent in for the recent competition. I spent last week-end at Te Aroha, and I went through a number of the entries on the way down in the express. It was not a very nice day, but the country looked beautiful, all the fields freshened up with <ho rain, and every farm house brightened with blossoming peach and plum trees, end lovejy flowers in the gardens. I had been asked to open the Te Aroha flower-show in the afternoon, and to address the local garden-lovers, so I thought I could not do anything better than tell them of the great interest which our young gardeners were taking in our special " Garden-lovers' Corner." I read aloud the three prize-winning essays in our contest, and as one was from a little girl living at Waihou, quite close to To Aroha, and another from a member living at Thames, it added a touch of local interest, which was greatly appreciated. I am keeping the essays and prize heading for our special Spring Page " next week, which will be one of the nicest we have had for a long time past Xo more for now, as there are still a lot of those interesting holiday letters waiting to be printed! Love to you all from
