EASING THE TENSION

Sept. 18 Japan will make her Navy independent of United States oil supplies by means of a big petroleum contract with a Soviet naptha syndicate. The growing tension as the result of the Shanghai-Manchuria situation increased Japan's desire to substitute Soviet oil for American. Russia herself was highly suspicious of Japan's intentions in Mancnuria, hut her recent big purchases of Russian oil supplies have eased the RussoJapanese situation. " , A deputation of Japanese business men is visiting Moscow to complete the contract.
