BICYCLES IN A RIVER

STRANGE DISCOVERIES Many strange finds have been made by relief workers employed by tho Christchurch Drainago Board on the widening and the deepening of tho Hcathcote River. Recently several bicycles and parts of bicycles have been raised from the bed, while other articles, including a wrist watch and coins, have been numerous, particularly in tho vicinity of bridges. A practically new bicycle, complete in every detail, was found near a bridge, and two other bicycles, minus various parts, were found near by, as well as a spare wheel off a Baby Austin car. Near another bridge a pair of women's new snakeskm shoes were brought up. !Iho discoveries have given rise to tho theory that the river is a thieves' dumping ground Tho articles have been handed to the police.
