TRAINING OF TEACHERS
THE DUNEDIN COLLEGE PROTESTS AGAINST CLOSING [BY TELEGRAPH—OWN CORRESPONDENT] DUNEDIN, Monday The fight of tho various educational bodies against tho Government's proposal to close-tho Dunedin Training College shows no signs of weakening. At the last meeting of the various interests concerned a citizens' committee was set up to further tho efforts which have'already been made to retain the college in Dunedin. Among other things it has been decided to proceed with a petition from Otago and Southland and copies of tho petition are being distributed throughout both these provinces. It is expected that there will be no difficulty in obtaining between 40 s OOO and 50,000 signatures.
