MOTORISTS IN FRANKLIN
INCREASED MEMBERSHIP I _ An increase in membership wag reported at the annual moeting of the Franklin agency of the Auckland Automobile Association, the total now being £59. The patrol stationed at Pukekohe had done extensive work and was giving good service to motorists. The president of the association. Mr. A. Grayson, the secretary, Mr. G. W. Hutchison, the motorists' representative on the Main Highways Board, Mr. M. H. Wynyard, and members of the council of the association, gave addresses on the activities of their organisations. Speaking in connection with the Franklin Copiity portion of the Great South Itoad, Mr. Wynyard said that some 1 time elapsed before the board and the county council reached an agreement over the 1 construction and permanent paving of the road. This unfortunate delay meant that, a vote to do the work had been missed. Had arrangements been finalised earlier it was quite a possibility that the concreting of the road fronr Papakura to the Pukekohe, turn off would have been an accomplished fact by now. At the present time there was a stringency of funds, and it was hard to say when the work would be- commenced. The following were appointed au agency committee Messrs, 1!. C. Clark jPoerata), A. J. Maiden (Tuakuu), H. Knight (Maukn), H. Curd (Pukekohe), C. Ben nett (Puni), A. 11. Tapper (Tuakau), J. Fulton (Whangarata), A. B. Ghezzi (Otaua), I. G. Wymer, junr. (Glmbrook), L. C. Logan (Pukekawa), L. W, Keals (Onewhero), and G. T, Proud? (Bombay).
