ELAXMILLS TO RESUME
OPERATIONS AT TAURANG^
POWER CONCESSIONS SOUGHT [from our own- correspondent] TAURANGA, Thursday The Tauvanga Electric-Power Board has been approached with regard to the resumption of the supply of power to a local flaxmill, according to advice received by the Tauranga Borough at its meeting last evening. The board advised that if satisfactory arrangements could be made it was understood other mills would be likely to start operations. To enable the board to offer a suitable tariff, it was suggested that the council should supply .power for this load at ,25d a unit, such price to be reviewed at the end of 12 months. If negotiations with the mill owners could be satisfactorily concluded operations will probably start within a fortnight. The Mayor, Mr. B. C. Bobbins, explained that just prior to the depression the council had made a concession in regard to the price of current for flaxmills in the Tauranga Power Board's district, but owing to the fall in the price of fibre the mills closed down. The council referred the matter to the electricity committee with power to fix a tariff.
