DIVING SUIT TESTED

AUSTRALIAN INVENTION RADIO, TALK FROM SEA BED SYDNEY, Aug. 31 A diving suit, invented by two Australians, which it is claimed will revolutionise diving practice, was successfully tested in Sydney Harbour to-day by a diver, H. It. Locke, in the presence of scientists, engineers, medical men and shipping representatives. Locke descended 165 feet and remained on the bottom of the sea for an hour. He ascended in about three minutes. He also broadcast a talk from the harbour bed. A feature of tho invention is that a diver, with safety, can remain below much longer at great depths and then ascend much more rapidly than a diver using a standard diving dress. Moreover, the now outfit is more mobile, and the diver is even ablo to breathe for 15 minutes in tho event of the air lino being severed. He can manipulate valves in the helmet for keeping the air at normal pressure.
