DUTY ON WIRELESS SETS

MOVE FOR REDUCTION With a view to obtaining a reduction in tho duty on imported radio receiving sets, a petition signed by importers of receivers and radio dealers throughout New Zealand will shortly be forwarded to the Minister of Customs. A leading importer said yesterday that the disparity in prices of receivers in America and Australia, which had astonished members of tho Tariff Board in Sydney, also applied to America and New Zealand. This ■was due to the high duty on imported American receivers, the landing charge being about 140 per cent.
