SYDNEY BRIDGE

GUARDING THE RIVETS No more trespassers will climb the arch of the Sydney Harbour Bridge. A £SO penalty failed' to stop them, but an ingenious device is now being erected nt each approach which, it is claimed, will end the practice. Skilled workmen have been erecting heavy steel frames, with massive doors, at each entrance to the arch. Fitted oti top of these are revolving steel rollers which, if grasped, will throw the trespasser on to the roadway. A bevel-edged blade also has been placed beside the rollers, as an extra discouragement to climbers'. It is behaved tnafc the device will obviate the necessity for nightwatchmen on the bridge. Though costing some hundreds of pounds, it will put a brake on souvenir hunters with a penchant for' rivets.
