BUOYANT TONE IN MARKET

A healthy tone was again evident in ■Sho investment market on the Auckland Slock Exchange yesterday. A substantial -volume of business was recorded in leading securities, and of 11 new levels established. eight wero firmer. Support was -stronger for <U per cent Government Joans and 5j per cent 1937 bonds, while similar stock was in steady demands? A Ti'so of 5s was registered in 1937 per <ont September bonds, which changed Jiaiuls at £lOl ss. Buying strength fluctuated slightly in liuuks, but holders generally were steadv to til m. New Zealands gavo way further .ground in dealing 6d lower at 46s 9d, at which price more were available. Nationals of New Zealand, after sale at Ihe current price of Jd3 9s, eased in furilier dealing at £3 8s 6d. The market, .however, was firmer at the close than on tho previous day. New South Wales wore lifted 3s 6d in a transaction' at £26 15s. Buyers sought further supplies at £26 10s, an appreciation of 5s on Tuesday's offers, sellers remaining steady at £2t. 17s 6d. The preference issue of Commercials of Australia was taken 16s 6d ■higher than the level of the last sale in "March at £6 19s, and unsuccessful inquiry tt>r the ordinary issue, on which *ho year's dividend is payable to-day, made at 14s Id. 1' inn conditions continued to operate ju insurance. New Zealands had sale at 'los 3d, a penny better, and South British were done twice unaltered at 55s 6d. Support improved for Standards, for which buyers offered Is 3d more at 42s 3d to £ bare market. Other sections of the market also refected a better tone. New Zealand Brewtries moved up another penny in business at 25s 3d. Farmers' Fertilisers were done again at 14s, and Woolworths (N.Z.) I preference sold Is 3d higher at 265. New Zealand Refrigerating contributings were released 2d cheaper at 4s 3d. A wide range of mining shares received attention, including an inquiry for two Malayan tinfields. Mount Lyells continued to harden and three sales "at 19s 3d represented an advance of sd, a total rise of Is 3d since Monday. Higher values for gold were reflected in aD appreciation of 3d in Waihis, which were done twice at 16s.
