GENERAL STRIKE PLAN PROPOSAL NOT CARRIED (Received August 5, 0.45 p.m.) British Wireless RUGBY, Aug. 4 At a meeting of the general council of the Weavers' Amalgamation, held in Manchester yesterday, a proposal for a general strike of weavers throughout Lancashire was put forward by tho Nelson weavers. The proposal was not carried. A total of 152 delegates from 36 districts attended, and it. is understood that after a long discussion the meeting agreed to adjourn and leave the whole question in the hands of the central committee. The general secretary stated that he expected that negotiations with tho employers would be resumed to-morrow.
