CASE OF ADOLF BECK
" I suppose that during the eight years X have-been on the. Bench I have heard the case of Adolf Beck cited fifty times. It is the stock argument of counsel," remarked Mr. Justice Ostler in the Supreme Court at I'almerston North last week, after counsel for accused had advanced this celebrated English case to discount the reliability of evidence of identification. " Nature has made no two persons exactly alike," added His Honor, ' and we can distinguish people with certainty by their features. It is one of the earliest things learned by the young."
