HEALTH AND BEAUTY RULES
Diet, rest, massage, exercise and optimism point the way to health and beauty. First and greatest of importance, never overeat. A safe rule is to leave the table a trifle hungry. Avoid exercise for at least one half-hour after meals. If tirecj and nervous, do not eat, wait until rested, and relax. Sleep as much as sible. Sleep is more important than food. If you cannot sleep six hours, stay in bed the full six hours and rest. Relax and do not worry if you can't sleep. Practice relaxing all the muscles of the body. Relax the brain also. Do not lie in bed and make plans for the. future. Don't think about the past. It is gone, never to return. You go to bed to rest and sleep. You can make your plans to-morrow. . When you go to bed, think of nothing but rest and sleep. Take a few <^e ?P breaths after relaxing the body, and fill the lungs with fresh air. Flood your feed" loom with sunshine by day and with fresh air 'it all times A glass of hot milk at bedtime may help indu'ce sleep. If you like to, read a short, but not exciting story. Or, if you are of the good old-fashioned school, read a chapter of your Bible. , Take a tepid bath daily. If your system does not react properly from a tub bath, take a sponge bath. Cold baths are not always advisable. But always rub the skin to a glow with a coaise towel. If vou are strong enough be your own seur. Havß two or three massages daily, covering the whole body, the limbs fiom the feet up, the, arms from the hands to the shoulders. In other words, do all the massaging toward the heart, as this aids in the return of the blood to the heart. Walk rather than ride, walk-ng a little further each dav. Worry from any cause is tabooed. Don't allow yourself to worry about anything. Remember that worry never helped anyone. Don't say that you can't help worrying, you can! If everything seems to be going wrong, nnd vou" feel like g : vmg up, don't do it' There is always a funny side. Look on the funny side and laugh If you have never learned to laugh, begin to-day. Indulge in at least one hearty laugh, and you will be surprised how it helps Then keep it up until it becomes a Don't allow vour mind to dwell on illfeelings toward anyone. They harm you more than they do the others. Regular habits are of value to everybody. Have a regular time for your meals, nnd allow sufficient time for thorough mastication and real enjoyment. Have a regular time for sleep. And don't hurrv, don't worry, don t overeat Cultivate calmness, and do not allow anything to excite you. Determine to enjoy every minute of your life.
