CHAFFED GREENFOOD
AUSTRALIAN EXPERT'S VIEWS Writing in an Australian journal Mr. D. F. Laurie, formerly a South Australian Government poultry expert, says: — " Dry mash feeders cannot incorporate chaffed jTreenfood as is the case with wet mash. Most of them recopniso the importance of greenfood, and induce the birds to eat as much as they can. Dry mash feeding, of course, is but in its infancy. It has had no extended trials, and breeders may bo disappointed with the stock they produce after a few generations of such feeding. Of course, somo effort is made to overcome deficiencies by the ad dition of lucerne pollard to the ordinary dry mash. Lucerne pollard, however, does not contain all tho various mineral acids and food factors found in (he fresh greenfeeds. In a year like this a good supply of succulent greenfood is absolutely in* valuable. Duck breeders are generally followers of tho big greenfood diet, and many of them know how important greenfood is in carrying their ducks through a heat wave."-
