NORTH AUCKLAND EVIDENCES PRESBYTERY EXPRESSES ALARM [from our own correspondent] WHANGAREI, Thursday At the quarterly meeting of tho North 'Auckland Presbytery at Whangarei yesterday, a letter was received from the convener of the Presbyterian temperance committee regarding the necessity for keeping the matter of the prohibition ' issue before the congregations, and suggesting that a fighting fund should be established preparatory to tho next Rational prohibition election. It also asked lor an expression of opinion regarding tho ; fcse of "home brew" among tho various Communities. The Rev. R. C. Stewart, of Hikurangi, teicl in his district tho matter of "home hew" was serious, and constituted a rival .to thb licensed houses.
