(Received August 3. 8.25 p.m.) OTTAWA, Aug. 2 While Australia and New Zealand have been grappling with the main problem, seeking greater opportunities iri (lie British market, negotiations have been proceeding quietly with Canada, resulting in a revision and expansion of the Canadian Australian trade treaty. Both countries are thoroughly satisfied with the mutual advantages already obtained. Australia hopes to sell more meat, wool and fruits. Canada's interests include agricultural machinery, wood pulp, rubber and boots. The new treaty is expected to
be drawn up before the Empire Economic Conference ends.. Tho Canadian Department of Trade discloses that the balance of trade now is in Australia'<s favour. To-morrow South Africa will begin negotiations with Canada for a similar trade review. AUSTRALIA'S CASE BRITAIN TO CONSIDER 'READY FOR SUBMISSION OTTAWA, Aug. 2 In response to Mr. S. M. Bruce's representations for British consideration of tho Dominions' proposals regarding butter, meat and fruit, all the seven British Ministers have invited Mr. Bruce to a "business" session to-morrow, aiming at a speedy agreement. Thus Australia is the first Dominion to enter the final stages with Britain. It is officially announced that the British delegation sat this morning and afternoon, realising that it had reached a crucial stage in the conference. It is learned that the Ministers exhaustively discussed Australia's case.
