I ' DARGAVILLE, Wednesday A crowd of 2000 saw tho Maori touring team defeat North .Auckland iu the second gaono of tho North Auckland tour by 23 points to 8 to-day. North Auckland were leading by 8 points to 0 at half-time, but in tho second spell, North Auckland had to play two men short and against a stiff breeze, and had no chance. The Maoris added 22 points in the spell. North Auckland lost its halfback, McDonald, in the first two minutes, and Mourin ten minutes before tho close of tho first spell. Tho latter was badly hurt and was taken to hospital. The loss of these two

players mado all the difference to North Auckland, and the Maoris put on six tries. Tho scores came from tho superior pace of tho Maoris, and through gaps in the Nortn Auckland team. The North Auckland forwards held their own, but tha Maori backs wore superior in all departments. Tries were scored by Downes (4), Jackson (2). Tibbie and Smith. Potaka converted two tries. For North Auckland, Mackey scored a try and Kerr kicked a penalty and converted Mackey's try. Both fullbacks, Kerr (North Auckland)_ and N. W e^cro (Maoris) gave lino exhibitions of kicking and defence. Tho forwards on both sides played hard football, in which there was plenty of rucking. At half-time, by arrangement with tho managers, North Auckland sent two fresh men on tho field, but tho reforee, Mr. N. Robinson, stood firm to the new rulo and would not allow the b»iiio to proceed while tho new men were on tho field. However, lio allowed tho teams to leavo tho field at tho interval.
