GRAPEFRUIT FOR LONDON

TRIAL SHIPMENT ARRANGED CONSIGNMENT FROM AUCKLAND A trial shipment of 150 cases of New Zealand grapefruit will be sent from Auckland to London by the Rangitiki tomorrow. The shipment has been arranged by the New Zealand Fruitgrowers Federation, tho packing being done by Turners and Growers, Limited. A further 150 cases will be forwarded in about a fortnight's time. " If the experiment is a success there is no reason why a considerable export trade of tho fruit should not develop," said Mr. Harvey Turner yesterday, "It has tho ad : vantage of being a winter fruit, maturing during the off-season for apples." Too much was not to be expected from the experiment, however, as it was essentially a trial consignment to show what the possibilities were.
