OLD ENGLISH COINS
THE GEORGIAN PERIOD Further instances of llio possession in New Zealand of curious old coins, more especially English, arc reported by correspondents of the lleiiald following the reference to a King George 111. spado guinea in the possession of a Hamilton resident. Mr. W. A. Bennett, of To Puke, has three half-farthings, a quarter of a farthing, a silver ono penny-halfpenny piece and a silver penny, all English coins. A King Georgo 111. shilling, dated 1818, in a good state of preservation, is owned by Sir. T. J. Jones, of King Georgo Avenue, Epsom. Another reminder of the Georgian period is a bronze medallion in the possession of the Trinity Methodist Collego, Grafton. It was struck by the American Revolutionary Committee to commemorate the raiding of the Scottish coast by Captain Paul Jones.
