NEW HENDERSON BRIDGE

APPORTIONING THE COST PROBABILITY OF DELAY Unless local bodies contributing to the cost of tho proposed new Oratia Stream bridge accept the apportionment arrived at by the Henderson Town Board, the work will bo delayed until an agreement is reached. Tho new reinforced concrete structuro will replace tho present old bridge, which has been condemned by tho Public Works Department. As some local bodies have objected to their assessed share, a conferenco will probably be necessary shortly to consider tho allocations. A similar course was adopted when tho new Whan Bridge was decided upon. If tho conferonco fails in tho present instance, a commission will bo appointed. Ifc was announced that the old bridge would bo closed to traffic from yesterday, but the Auckland Automobile Association has suggested that light traffic be permitted to continue using the bridge to avoid the detour of three-quarters of a mile. Tho town board's decision has not yet been announced.
