RESUMPTION NEXT WEEK ' DESCRIPTION OF EVENTS ,j BOARD GRANTED PERMISSION f [BY TELEGRAPH—PRESS ASSOCIATION] ; i WELLINGTON, Tuesday tgj The chairman of the Broadcasting | Board, Mr. H. D. Vickery, stated to-day that the board had received permission from the racing authorities to broadcast running descriptions of events on the programmes of racing and trotting clubs. A start will be made by station 3YA, which will broadcast the events at tho Canterbury Jockey Club's Grand National meeting on August 9, August 11 and August 13, and the programmes on August 10 and August 12 of the Metropolitan Trotting Club.
Arrangements have been made to broadcast from the board's four stations the Grand National Steeplechase, the Winter Cup and the Grand National Hurdle Bace. .Other events at both meetings referred to will be broadcast only from station 3YA. Mr. Vickery stated that, in the meantime, the board proposed to broadcast only from the courses at the four centres, but in special cases it would undoubtedly, go further afield. Mr. Vickery said'lie desired to pay « tribute to the racing authorities for the courteous treatment extended the board during the course of the negotiations. Tha board was very much indebted to tha members of the recent Pacing and Trotting Conferences for the reasonable and businesslike manner in which the wfaolo matter had been handled.
