PAKURANGA HUNT
MEET AT OPAHEKE Another very enjoyablo day's hunting ■was experienced by the Pakuranga Hunt "when it met at Opaheka yesterd&y. The day waa~* beautifully fine and although the tto hares put up were lost, everyone thoroughly ap- - preciated the sport. In spite of the good ■weather, several- patches of ground were slippery after -the recent rain, and one or two falls occurred, but no one -was injured; The hounds threw off ia Mr. McClennan'a property, -where a hare was started- in the. - rough grass and took the followers across Mr. McCallum's farm .to that of Mr. Agrmen Smith. From here the hounds were led on ' to ■ the Red Hill, from which they - circled •* down to the flat and back to the hills again, where the hare was lost in rough ground , after a good run of about four or five miles. After crossing the farms of Mrs. P. Fox and Mr. Little, the second hare was put up on Mr. Batrick's property, and led the bant -., through Mr. Walker's and Mr. Whitford's . farms on to the road as far as the Opaheke . railway station. After doubling back to Mr. Walker's property, cattle spoiled the Bcent - and it was lost. Followers included the master of the hunt, Mr. H. Bullock-Webster, on Tally Ho; the huntsman, Mr. P. H, Smith,'on Harkaway; the whip, on Wangtumi; Mr. W. Gore, on Scotty; Commander Binglev. on Blackthorn; Mr. J. MacPherson. on Waitaka; Mr. J. Sutherland on Mack; Mr. J. Appleby, on. Sparx: Mr. H. Sutherland, on importer; . Mr. C. Gore on Ariki; Mr. R. Townsend, on Economy; Mr. n. Brooks, on Bufter; Mr. J. Fielding, on Pale Face; Mr. B. Mullins. on St. Lucas; Mr. G. Holt,\on Darby; Mr. J. Hidebottom, on Safe Conveyance; Mr. A. Walker,_ on Bluestone: Mr. M. Walker, on Kohiwhiwhi; Mr. J. Townsend, on a chestnut; Mr. Gordon Hamilton, on Pathfinder; and Mr. J. Dufty, on a bay. Lady riders included: Mrs. Gordon Hamilton. on a bay; Mrs. Wills McLaughlin, on Comedy; Mrs. Moncur on Mona; Mrs..A. G. Quartley. on Gay Laddie: Miss Al.
