EXTRACTS FROM THE HERALD ELECTRIC LIGHT COMPANY • 4* Tho following are extracts from the New Zealand Herald #f August 3, 1882:—• The prospectus of tho New Zealand Electric Light. Company, Limited, has been circulated. The company is to he floated on 10,000 shares of £lO each, and is formed for the purpose of lighting the principal cities in New Zealand by means of electricity, and also for using electricity as a locomotive power. An influential provisional directory has been appointed, in addition to, which local directorates, consisting of three shareholders in each city, will De appointed in Dunedin, Christchurch and Auckland, to take the.'management, of the- works in their respective cities, and by this means do away with the expense of having a full list of directors in those places. Nearly 6000 shares arc already subscribed. A company has been formed in Auckland to construct a lino of railway from Dargaville to the Maungonui Bluff. The 0. line is to be, built under the Railways Construction Act and will be 20 miles in - length. The capital of the company is £60,000, and shareholders anticipate get- -ll® ting lair interest on their outlay.
