BAY OF PLENTY COMPANY PAYMENT OF lUd A POUND INCREASED BUTTER OUTPUT An increase of 326 tons of butter in the output for the year ended June 30 is shown in the annual report of the Bay of Plenty Co-opcrativo Dairy Association, Limited, Te Puke. The production for the season amounted to 2065 tons, representing 3,799,7631b. of batter-fat. The average grading for the season was 93.03. Commenting upon the low values reached during the sseasoh the report states f that the highest price was touched during ''■* the first week in October, 1931, when the market reached 124s a cwt., receding to 95s in January and May, 1932. During the season the directors sold 350 tons, f.0.b., which proved of material benefit to the suppliers. With the advances already made and the further payment proposed by the directors on August 20, the price for the season would be brought up to lljd a lb. superfine at farm gate, with the exception of July, for which Is was advanced. .Under the group herd-testing system 3051 cows were tested, an increase of 268 compared with last year. In the trading department sales totalled £25,290, as against £20,624 in the previous year. The total payment for butter-fat purchased up to Juno 30 was £157,390. The company has 389 suppliers. ■ - HAURAKI PLAINS COMPANY CHEESE OUTPUT LOWER The report of the Hauraki Plains Cooperative Dairy Company, Limited, states that the output of cheese for the year was 673 tons, creamery butter 85 tons and ' whey butter 15 tons, showing a decline in cheese of 51 tons, but an increase of 9 tons in creamery butter. Owing to the somewhat dry season experienced it was regrettable that the output of cheese had fallen slightly below that of the previous year, but it was to a certain extent accounted for by .some suppliers changing over from butter to cheese at the beginning of the season. The average grade for cheese for the whole season was 92.03. The estimated balance of £4676 for distribution to suppliers would give a further payment to cheese suppliers of 1.66 d and to butter suppliers 1.12 d, making tho total payment for the season to cheese suppliers Is and butter suppliers llgd, which, in the latter case, included the a lb. for direct delivery. The directors recommended 'that the payment to cheese suppliers be brought up to lljd, leaving a balance of £d to be paid when final realisations were received and that a final payment of 1.12 d be made to hutter suppliers, making the final payment for the season to them of lljd, the whole of the butter having been sold. A dividend of 5 per cent on paid capital is recommended, absolving £582, representing l-5d a lb. on tw total butter-fat received. - : - NEW ZEALAND COMPANY NOMINATION OF DIRECTORS [from our own correspondent] HAMILTON, Tuesday "It is extremely gratifying to report once again a substantial increase in our total output for the season, the final figures showing a record production of 47,473 tons, compared with 46,743 tons in the previous season," comments Mr. C. J. Parlane, general manager of the New Zealand Co-operative Dairy Company, Ltd., in a message to shareholders of the company. The individual quantities of the various products were:—Butter. 33,419 tons; cheese, 7582 tons; casein, 723"tons; milkpowders, 5402 tons; "condensed milk, 347 tons. Nominations closed last evening for vacancies on the board of directors of the company, caused by the retirement by rotation of Messrs. R. J. Glasgow, F. O. R. Phillips, W. H. Allen and G. Buchanan. The following are the nominations received for the various districts:— Northern Electoral District".—Mr. R. J. Glasgow Mr. R. P. Dane, Huapai. - ' <" South-eastern District.—Sir. W. H. The poll will close on Saturday, August 20. ■ TAURANGA ASSOCIATION PRODUCTION AND PAYMENT ' [from orp. own correspondent] TAURANGA, Tuesday The annual meeting of shareholders of tho Tauranga Co-operative Dairy Association, Ltd., was held to-day, Mr. L. Tollemache, chairman of directors, presiding over an attendance of about 200 suppliers. The report for the yenr ended May 31, 1932, stated that the output of butter was 1004 tons, as against^9ls tons the previous season, an increase of 89 toiis. The quality of the butter was still improving, the average grade during tho season being 93.36, as against 92.86 the previous year. A dividend of 5 per cent, on share capital and a bonus on the December and January supplies of butter-fat paid at the meeting brought tho average payment for the season up to ll:5d per lb. butter-fjt, including cream cartage, and it is proposed to make a final payment later in the season when final realisations are made. It is estimated that when the final payment is made, the suppliers will have received an average payment for the season of ll|d per lb. The number of suppliers was 425. The report an d balance-sheet were adopted. The retiring directors, Messrs. 11. G. Lever, V. Stacey and W. J. White were re-elected unopposed. Mr. A. J. Gallagher was re-elected auditor. The Hon. C. E. Macmillan, Minister of Agriculture, tendered his resignation as a member of the directorate, on account of the pressure of Ministerial duties. The resignation was accepted with regret and a vote of appreciation of Mr. Maemillan's services over a period of 24 years was I carried by acclamation. The directors were authorised to make a suitably presentation to Mr. Macmillan in recognition of his long services to the association. A motion was carried asking; Mr. Macmillan to name his successor on the directorate and ho recommended Mr. C. S. Moffatt. A motion was proposed asking the directors to enter the geueral storekceping business, owing to certain storekeepers pushing the sale of outside butter on the local market. An amendment wa3 carried authorising the directors to take what action they deemed fit. Tho question of the granting of a licence for another dairy produce grading storo in Auckland was debated at length. Finally the meeting decided, by an overwhelming , majority, to ask the Minister of Agriculture not to
