THE AUCKLAND EXCHANGE TRADING AT FIRM LEVELS Steady cleaning was recorded on tlio Auckland Stock Exchange yesterday, firm levels continuing to rulo in most sections of the market. After a quiet spell several transactions took place in Government loans. A shading of 5s occurred in 1937 per cent September bonds, which were done at £lOl. Dealing in 1939 4J per cent stock was recorded at £96, as against «ho last sale at £93 17s 6d in June, while 5i per cent 1937 stock was dealt in 10s higher at £9B 10s. Trading in banks was at stronger rates. Australasias advanced 6s on sale at £9 10s, and New Zealands, after business 3d firmer at 47s 6d, changed hands twice at 47b Bd, and later at 47s 9d. Commercials of Australia were released again at 13s Other issues remained steady. The demand for insurance was strong, but rates for New Zealands were readjusted with the payment of the dividend. Nationals were done unaltered at 12s 7d. Apart from mining transactions, the only other business was in New Zealand Breweries, which were dealt in 3d lower at 24s 9d. Levels generally were fairly steady. Dealing was more active in mining. Blackwatcrs were done at 12s 6d and 13s, compared with the last business in Juno at 8s 6d. Two sales ,of Waihis were completed at 15s 9d, a riso of sd. Mount Lyells were taken 2d firmer at 17s 6d. Both Golden Dawns and King Solomons moved unfavourably, tlio former easing 2jd in dealing at 4s 7d, and the latter changing hands 3d cheaper at Is Bd.
