HERALD'S SPECIAL FORECAST CLOUDY AND UNSETTLED The following weather forecast for 24 hours from 7 a.m. to-day was supplied by Mr. H. M. Vincent last evening:— Barometric pressure is relatively low over the Dominion, and a tropical disturbance is located northward of New Zealand. Expect cloudy and unsettled weather, with showers in most districts, and heavy rain in northern districts. Considerable mist and fog in coastal areas. Winds variable, moderate southerlies prevailing temporarily and backing by cast to north, then freshening. Seas moderate, increasing short ly on the east coast. Local outlook: Cloudy and unsettled, with rain following. Fairly mild temperatures. Barometer, midnight, steady .. 29.951n. Midnight, Sunday .. .. 29.95 in. GOVERNMENT REPORT The Government meteorologist reported last evening as follows:—A series of shallow depressions is passing northern New Zealand, while a moderate anticyclone is crossing the south Tasman Sea. Indications are for light to fresh variable . winds in the far north, elsewhero west to south prevailing. Seas rather rough about Foveaux Strait, elsewhere smooth to moderate. In the eastern Tasman Sea, modcrato south to south-east winds. Seas smooth to moderate. The weather will bo unsettled north of Auckland, with some rain elsewhere. Mainly fair, but with scattered showers, more especially in western aud southern districts. Temperatures becoming colder.
