RANGITIKI-AKARANA CUP A competition was played during the week-end at tho Akarana links, Mount Roskill, for the Rangitiki-Akarana Cup, a • trophy competed for on each visit of the motor-liner Rangitiki to Auckland. The competition takes the fonn of foursomes handicap play over 3G holes, an officer of tho motor-liner being partnered by a member of tho Akarana Club. Tho present contest, tho sixth of the series, proved tho most interesting and closely-fought on rocord. Ideal conditions prevailed for tho morning round, but light showers fell in the afternoon. Following were tho best cards returned:—Second Engineer A. T. Cox and 13. J. Smith, jun (4), SO, 80—160; (hi of Wireless Officer L. Horn and H. P. Cullen (10), BG, 81—1G7; Fourth Officer T. E. Davies. and V. Baker (8), 90, 78—168; Third Officer H. Hill and A. Shorter (13), 87, 88— 175. This is the third victory for Engineer Cox, while B. J. Smith, jun., has been successful on no fewer than four occasions.
