MANUKAU CRUISING CLUB SUCCESSFUL PAST SEASON The report of -the Maniikan Croieing Clnb. adopted at the annual meeting last evening, stated that the oast season had been the most successful for some years. Boat nominations and membership had both shown increases over the previous season. Ten races wera held during the summer for both yachts and launches. Miss Manukau won the ladies* launch race, and the Jordan Points Cup- for cruising races was won outright by Cremorne. Much concern had been occasioned when it become known that the basin was to be closed, thereby depriving boat-owners of a safe anchorage. Finally, a petition was presented to the Auckland Harbour Board by both clubs on the Manukau. The peti-. tion showed that craft tc the value of £12,573. would be affected by having "no protection against southwest gales. The Harbour Board, in reply, definitely stated that the basin would not- be closed until a protective wall. 300 feet in length, had been constructed. Votes of thanks were passed to Messrs. L. Petersen, W. Wright and R Inglis foi their services. " The receipts f<>r the year amounted to£los 8s Bd, and the expenditure, £92 111 6d. leaving a credit balance of £l2 17s 2d.
