GEORGE WALKER SUCCESSFUL DEFEAT OF HARRY DEMETRAL BOUT ENDS UNSATISFACTORILY The professional wrestling contest at the Town Hall last evening between George Walker and Harry Demetral ended in the sixth round in favour of Walker. Up till then each man had secured a fall, Walker being successful in the third round with a jack-knife hold, while Demetral evened in the fifth with a Boston crab submission fall. Matters then became fairly lively and each man was thrown through the yopes. Demetral hurled his opponent through four times, causing the inspector of police to have a word with the referee. While this consultation was going on, Demetral caught hold of Walker's head and brought him over tho ropes back into the ring with a flying mare. Walker regained his feet and threw Demetral, securing the deciding fall with a body press. Demetral at once jumped to his feet and, gesticulating wildly, commenced to nrgue with the referee. It was some seconds before ho could be pacified by his seconds and by members of the Auckland Wrestling Association, the spectators hooting the while. Demetral stated in his dressing room subsequently that he was under the impression the referee, Mr. C. Pollard, had awarded him a fall when he hurled Walker back into tho ring, and consequently offered no resistance to Walker. The referee, on tho other hand, denied shaving tapped Demetral on the back. At all events it was an unsatisfactory ending. Even Weights Announced There was a attendance, although tho Town Hall was not quite filled. The men were announced at even weight, 13st. 121b. Walker early tripped his opponent to the mat, Demetral replying with headlocks. Tho pair set a lively pace and then some sparring roused the crowd. Demetral was thrown into a corner and there was some jeering when Walker jumped upon him. Walker secured a standing armbar, but pinching by his opponent made him let go. At the gong for the second round Demetral rushed to Walker's corner and dived, but a side-step saw the attacker go sprawling through the ropes. Demetral countered an armbar with a head scissors and armbar, but it was not effective. Walker gained a leg and toebar, which had his opponent in difficulties. Demetral escaped and then Walker failed with a lift. First Fall Registered Walker was downed with a headlock nt tho beginning of tho third round. Demetral tried to pull one of Walker's legs between his own, but Walker quickly converted the position into a jack knife hold, from which his opponent had no possible escape. Walker thus registered the first fall. Early in the fourth round Walker obtained a reverse leghold, which, however, yielded him nothing. Walker was thrown with backward headlocks, but Demetral then missed with a forward chancery. Demetral next escaped from a head scissors and armbar and threw Walker with a series of headlocks. Demetral commenced the fifth round y.-ith a head scissors and armbar, but he was unable to sustain it. After being twice thrown with side headlocks, Demetral caught Walker's legs and appeared to have little difficulty in gaining a submission with a Boston crab. Demetral appealed to the referee against single-finger holds. Each was then thrown through the ropes, Walker on four occasions and Demetral twice. The contest ended as stated above.
