WEATHER IN JULY
COLD WINDS PREVALENT RAINFALL BELOW AVERAGE The weather in Auckland during July was characterised bv a prevalence of cold south-westerly winds, but the rainfall was below tho average, according to the report of the Government official observer, Mr. S. M. Yallop. Rain foil on 11 of the 31 days, the maximum fall being 1.54 in. on July 9. Tho total for tho month was 4.02 in., compared with 4.07 in. during Juno and 6.99 in. during July last year. A total of 27.91 in. has fallen for tho year to date, compared with 33.43 in. for tho first seven months of last year. There were 133 hours of sunshine, tho finest day being Saturday, with 8 hours 18 minutes of sunshine. Tho mean maximum temperature was 55.1 degrees and tho mean minimum 43.26 degrees. The extrenio maximum temperature was 60.0 degrees on July 7, the minimum being 38.0 degrees on July 4. Three frosts were recorded in tho city. No gales were recorded in Auckland, but heavy gales were reported by shipping arriving at the port.
