Vincent last evening:— A small westerly depression lias passed in tlie south, while, another cyclone of [tropical character, associated with an extensive and intense disturbance, has developed on the north-west Tnsman Sea. Expect cloudy to overcast conditions, with rain in most districts, heavy in northern and east coast areas. Stormy weather is indicated, especially in the north. Easterly to north-easterly winds, moderate to strong, increasing strong to gale in places northward of New Plymouth and Napier, and backing by north to west. Seas rough and increasing on the east coast, particularly northward from East Cape, and rising on the west coast southward from Cape Egmont. Loral outlook: Overcast, with heavy rain. Mild temperatures. Barometer, midnight, fulling .. 28.S5tn. Midnight, Saturday .. .. 30.10 111. Temperature in shade yesterday (to midnight)— Maximum. 58des.; minimum, 52dog. GOVERNMENT REPORT Tlio Government meteorologist reported last evening as follows:—A moderate anticyclone has been crossing New Zealand to-dav with its centre to the north. The end of a shallow depression is now advancing over tho Tasinan Sea. Indications are for moderate but freshening northerly to north-easterly winds, changing shortly to south-easterly in tho south. Seas rather rough about Cook and Foveaux Straits; elsewhere smooth. In tho Tasinan Sea, north-east to east winds in tho northern portion, and cast to south-east in tho southern portion. Moderato to strong winds generally, with moderate to rough seas. The weather will become overcast with much mist or fog in places, rain gradually developing at first in tho Far North and South, but later becoming general.
