DEPRESSION PASSING
HOPES FOR RECOVERY PROMISING INDICATIONS - (Received July 31, 5.5 p.m.) LONDON, July 30 "It is at least possible to hope that the bottom of the depression has been reached, even if recovery is destined to prove slow and to be attended by many difficulties," declares the Economist. This opinion is fortified by the improved tendency in the stock markets, the success cf the conversion scheme and Mr. W. E. Boruh's war debt pronouncement, to which Loudon financial circles attach groat importance. Wall Street's long delayed re viral is also welcomed in Britain. Commodity prices show a better trend, especially butter, owing to tho likelihood of the early withdrawal of the partial prohibitions against Danish butter entering Germany und Holland. Copenhagen's quotation has steadily risen in recent weeks.
