TOO MUCH ARGENTINA
LONDON JOURNAL'S VIEW To-day practically everything which the Argentina sends to us (and she competes powerfully with Australia in both meat and wool) is to come in duty free. In 1929, the last year of normal world trade, our imports from the Argentina were of a, value of £82,500,000 but riur exports thither #io more than £29.000,000. If Australia treated us in the same way our overseas trade would suffer much diminution, for in that year Australia sold (o up £55,500,000 of goods and bought from us £54,250,000 (suys the London Live Stock Journal). Each individual in the Argentina Republic spent 52s in England, and each individual in the Commonwealth of Australia spent £8 7s. During tho same year the United States sold in the Argentina £42,000,000 worth of goods and spent thero only £23,500,000.
