TRAFFIC CONTROL

Sir, —A report appeared in the Herald on Saturday, July 23, wherein the traffic inspector for the district reported to the Otahuhu Borough Council on recent complaints made by the Automobile Association relative to unlighted bicycles. The Mayor commented that so far as the borough was concerned the council was satisfied that the closest possible supervision was maintained. The motoring public using the main thoroughfare at Otahuhu shortly after dark know full well that the position above has not- been adequately handled. It is unlikely that the Automobile Association would take up the matter unless there were serious grounds for complaint, and I sincerely trust they will not be content with the answer given. This is the second occasion on which the association has taken up the samo subject with the authorities for Otahuhu with a similar result in each case. Constant lip ad User.
