YACHTING AT COWES
KING SAILS OWN CRAFT DEAD-HEAT FOR FIRST (Received July LONDON, July 29 The King yesterday embarked on the destroyer Crusader and left for Cowes, where his racing yacht Britannia took part in the regatta of the Royal Albert Yacht Club. Wearing bright yellow oilskins, His Majesty boarded the Britannia and raced against tho Candida and Westward. After a ding-dong battle the Royal yacht deadheated with Mr. Davis' schooner Westward, which started so badly that it had lost 339 seconds to tho Britannia at the end of the first round, but recovered brilliantly. A dead-heat is very rare in a long race. It was a 40-mile course. There was a hard breeze and driving rain.. The general opinion was th:it the King was plucky to sail on such a day.
