IN CONSECRATED GROUND

REBURIAL OF A BODY An unusual case of the disinterment of a body and its interment in the same cemetery took place lately at Weybridge, Surrey. The consent of the Homo Secretary had been obtained. April 2, -1931, the body o£ Lieu-tenant-Colonel Francis L. Swan, of the East Surrey Regiment, who had died, aged 78, was buried in an unconsecrated part of the cemetery. At the time no opportunity presented itself for the body to be placed near his relatives in the consecrated pail of the cemetery, the only empty grave space having been reserved. Negotiations have since been carried on by Colonel Swan's brother, who secured the right to purchase this unoccupied grave space. The Home Secretary granted the unusual request, and the body was reinterred next to Colonel Swan s water-in* law without any additional service.
