EXHIBITION OF DOGS

kennel association show ALSATIAN ENTRY LIST OF THE AWARDS 'A record entry for New Zealand of SVlsatic.ns was benched at tho second annual show of tho Auckland Kennel As- ' sociation, commenced yesterday afternoon in tho Campbell Buildings, Lome Street. Of the 280' dogs entered, tho Alsatians numbered 98. , Mr. L. Loos, president of the assoeiution, said tho Alsatian entry was particularly good, and the exhibition repre- , gpnted a considerable advance upon last ' year's display. There were also good entries of Pekingese, spaniels, English setters and terriers. The show was probably tho only one hold in the Dominion where Great Danes were entered, thero --being two specimens of tho breed. The quality of the Alsatian exhibit was commented upon by Mr. F. D'Helin, a prominent Australian judge. It. is tho policy ot tho association to have tho contests judged by an outside expert, another Australian, Mr. L. A. Latchford, having ofliciated at the first show. In the present exhibition, tho association has the co-operation of tho New Zealand Tail Waggers' Club, which will hold an "all sorts of dogs" display this afternoon, and members of the Society •ior the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, who aro conducting a refreshment stall. Judging will begin in a cat show this •morning, the exhibition concluding this evening. The prize for the best dog in the show was awarded to Mr. and Mrs. A. Marshall's King Charles spaniel Ashton More [Vagabond, which also won tho special stud class iu the contests for its breed. Tho awards are:— > ALSATIANS Doss. —Puppies, three to five months: S. J.
