MISS MEALING IMPROVES AUSTRALIAN GIRL SWIMMER (Received July 20. 5.5 p.m.) LOS ANGELES. July 13 In a private trial this afternoon, Miss Bonnie Mealing (Australia) came within 4-sths of a second of the 100 metres backstroke swimming record, and at the same time improved upon her own previous record time of lm 19s.
