NUGGET FOUND IN STREET
PICKED UP AT WINTON An extraordinary find was made by an Invercargill visitor to Winton last week, when a small nuggoL of gold was picked up from the dirt and gravel of a parking area in tho borough on tho Great North Road. Tho nugget was approximately half an inch long and an eighth of an inch in thickness. Tho findor related that he parked his car on an area near the post office and on walking over to tho street noticed something glitter. On investigating ho picked up the nugget, which ho himself believed was gold, and took it to a local bank to bo weighed. As the branch was not a gold-receiving one, it did not possess tho necossary instruments to weigh the nugget, but nevertheless, it was pronounced to be the genuine articlo.
