ROTORUA.
The literary circle of the Rotorua Women's Club held its reading last .week at the residence of Miss Edith Hichens in Arawa Street. Miss Hichens received her guests wearing a frock of nut brown floral velvet with fur trimmings. The play chosen was "Bill of Divorcement," by Clemence Dane. Those taking part included Mrs. A. C. Randerson, Mrs. C. Rowley, Mrs. Ford, Mrs. Campbell, Miss Hichens, Miss M. McKenzie, Miss Clara Sharpe, Miss I. Green, Miss Johnson. A number of young friends of Miss Peggy Ford paid her a surprise visit at her home in Malfroy Road recently. Mrs. Ford, who assisted her daughter in receiving the guests, wore a frock of navy marocain. Miss Feggy Ford - was in Betty blue satin a_nd Miss Helen Ford wore rosebud pink crepe de chine. A delightful evening was spent in games and dancing, tho winners of a Monte Carlo dance being Miss Joan Bertram,. Miss Clivena Young and their partners. Mr. and Mrs. M. Montgomery, of Christchurch, are leaving for Rotorua shortly, where they will take up their future residence. - -
•■ Mrs. E. J. Mears, of Hamilton, who has been spending a few days in Rotorua as the guest of her sistery Mrs. Budd, in Victoria Street, has returned to her home. Mrs. N. M. Keane, of Devon Street, has left on an extended trip to Sydney. Mrs. B. M. Green, of Arawa Street, has returned from a visit to Auckland.
Miss Joyce Walker, of To Kuiti, ,■ is spending a holiday in Rotorua and is the guest ot Mrs. Keating, in Union Street.
