MINING CONFERENCE.
NO FINALITY REACHED. MUCH STILL TO BE DISCUSSED. [BY TELEGRAPH. —PRESS ASSOCIATION.] WESTPORT. Tuesday. The coalmining conference, which opened in Westport on Monday, was resumed this morning. The conference continued to discuss the old agreement clause by clause, together with the amendments sought by the parties, but no finality was reached. Nothing was agreed to, except where neither party sought an amendment, and these clauses will be inserted in the agreement finally reached. The atmosphere of the conference, stated Mr. T. 0. Bishop, secretary ,of the Coal Mine Owners' Association, was quite amicable and discussion was proceeding along the lines of reasoned argument.
The conference resumes to-morrow. Whether finality will be reached is yet uncertain, as there remains a good deal of ground still to be covered.
