RETURNED SOLDIERS.
SOCIAL CLUBS SCHEME,
The proposal to establish a chain of social clubs for ex-servicemen throughout tho Auckland district was explained to delegates from tho North- Shore associations at Ex-servicemen'* clubroom last'evening by officials of th# Auckland Returned Soldiers' Association. The speakers-.wero Sir Goorge Richardson, Mr. 11. J. Aekihs, and Mr. J. W. Kendall, vice-president. The associations represented wero Devonport, Takapuna, Birkenhead, Northcote and Albany. It was made clear that the Returned Soldiers' Association was not desirous of ■ creating a social club in opposition to an ex-servicemen's association, already in existence in any district. The object was \ f , to link up tho 16,000 inen in the Auck- ' land district for their mutual advantage and to assist . many old comrades who were in diro need to-day.
