"PUTARURU" STONE.

Sir, —I noticed in the account given of St. Luke's Presbyterian Church, Remuera, that it is said to have been built of Putaruru stone. Why this is called Putaruru stone many fail to understand. The stone is Lichfield stone,. quarried in the heart of Lichfield and trucked at the Lichfield station, five miles from Putaruru. Close to tho station stands an old stone building which was erected of this stone nearly 50 years ago. Honour to tho place to which honour is due. Lichfield Stone.
