CHARGE DISMISSED.
ALLEGATION OF INCITING. DISTRIBUTION OF PAMPHLET. [l*X TELEGRArn.—rRESS ASSOCIATION. J WELLINGTON. Tuesday. A charge against Charles Barker of inciting and encouraging lawlessness and violence was dismissed by Mr. E. Page, S.M., in a reserved judgment delivered to-day. It was stated in evidence at the hearing of the case that Barker was at a meeting at the Basin Reserve on April 24 and was distributing pamphlets headed " No Slave Camps." i " The pamphlet was couched in somewhat lurid language," said Mr. Pago, "but upon careful consideration of it I have come to the conclusion that the case falls short of establishing that defendant's action in distributing this pamphlet amounted to inciting and encouraging violence and lawlessness."
